This weekend four Active Life Club Ladies went to Squamish to test their metal....in the 'running' test of metal! The 50 mile relay was the game of the day - it was a 7 leg trail running race on some of the most classic Squamish trail routes - the weather was perfect, and the day was a blast - here is how it went:
Erika blitzing the first two Legs #1 & #2 |
Next Charlotte was up for her 2 legs, about 21km full of rolly, twisty trails - so fun!
Charlotte finishing off Legs #3 & #4, and handing off to Laddie for Leg #5 |
Laddie took over from Charlotte for Leg #5, a quick 11km rip - then Dana tackled 9 mile Hill for Leg #6, likely the toughest of the course, a 24km slog! She ruled it, had a great run and came blazing back for this post-leg photo with the cheering squad....including Bronwyn!
Laddie finished off the final Leg #7 (another 10km or so) - and pulled the team into a great finish.
At the end of the day, the four ladies managed a solid Second Place - less than 5-10 minutes behind the lead women's group - who had seven runners!
All in all, a great race, and amazing company - recommended to all for 2011. Way to go ladies!!
A big thanks to Dana for organizing, and getting us all sorted to make it happen!
Laddie bringing it home for the team - Second Place Women's Open - Yeah!!! A big thanks to Dana for organizing, and getting us all sorted to make it happen!
Bronwyn Samis - our biggest fan...and biggest eater at the aid stations! |
