Intermontane Challenge - Day 5

We did it! Friday was a time trail, a shorter course of 30km with some intense ups and downs, again in the blistering sun where you literally felt like you were baking alive! Heather and I raced as hard as we could, and left it all on the trail. We came in 2nd again, only 2 mins behind the pro gals. We're pretty tired right now, but had a great week overall. We raced well together as a team and are very proud of what we accomplished. There was stiff competition, the gals in our category race full time and actually get paid for it! Over 100 racers started on Monday, but only 67 ended up finishing yesterday!
We'd like to thank all of our friends and family for supporting us. AND of course, our sponsors ... Peak Centre for Human Performance for training us, Different Bikes for helping us keep our bikes together, North Shore Athletics for nutritional support, Race Face for providing gloves for our ride.
Congrats also to our teammate, Tara Walsh and her race partner Chris Welsh who also completed the race with us and finished strong. They road well every day and didn't even get lost!
Looking forward to sleeping in, relaxing, and eating some yummy food again!
KJ and Heather

(I (KJ) would also like to thank Sophia and Heather of Active Life Physio for seriously helping me keep my back and body together over the last year or so ... I was honestly told almost 2 years ago I should not bike or run any more! You guys rock!!)
